TDSB Meeting Plans for School Reopening

TORONTO — Toronto District School Board invited Associate Medical Officer of Health Dr. Vinita Dubey to their special meeting Tuesday to share updates on COVID-19 data and protocol, in preparation for schools reopening next week.


The Planning and Priorities Special Meeting held an online meeting on Feb. 9, 2021 to inform school board trustees of the risks of reopening in the midst of the second wave of the pandemic and emergence of COVID-19 variants.


“The message here to our community is: students can attend school each day,” Dubey said, “but should not gather with others outside of school, even those in their cohorts.”


In a half-hour lecture with accompanying slides, she said cases within the student age range have dropped to numbers closer to the start of the pandemic, despite overall cases in Ontario being higher than the start of the pandemic.
